  • Is video counseling really effective?
Research shows there is no difference in the effectiveness of traditional versus online counseling methods. In fact, most clients often prefer it as it allows them to be in a comfortable, familiar setting, saves driving time, and offers time flexibility. You can even continue your therapy while you’re away on business or vacation!
  • What does the therapeutic process look like?
    1) You tell your story to me. (It is important that you feel accepted, heard and understood.) 2) We will clarify causality in a non-blaming manner, as we treat the causes not the struggles themselves. 3) Then, we identify how you want things to be - we call these treatment goals. 4) Finally, we jointly agree to strategies, implement the strategies and then therapy is complete.
  • Is what I say confidential?
As a mental health professional, I take confidentiality very seriously. In general, the law protects the confidentiality of all communications between a client and a therapist. However, there are a few exceptions to this rule. Exceptions include: - Suspected child abuse or dependent adult or elder abuse. - If a client intends to harm themselves or someone else. The therapist will make every effort to enlist their cooperation in insuring their safety. If they do not cooperate, further measures may be taken without their permission in order to ensure their safety.
  • How many sessions will I need?
Ethically, my goal is to only see clients for as long as needed and this will vary for each individual or couple. For some, this may consist of just a few sessions, but the average number is 12 - 15 sessions. However, for those with more complex issues, more time may be needed. That said, if you are motivated, willing to do any recommended work outside of session, and are focused on your goals, you may have a very short time in therapy.
  • Do you prescribe medicine?
